Experimenting with Color

I will often spend several weeks painting with the same handful of colors on my palette, exploring the properties of my pigments and the possibilities that they hold. I love to experiment—especially with watercolors, because their magic is in their unpredictability.

Granulation

A textural quality of watercolor pigments. The ultra fine grains naturally create lacy and intricate patterns as they dry.

From sketchbook to finished art

I use my sketchbook to test out compositions, color blends, and properties of the pigments. Many of hours of trial and error go into each work before I even begin to lay down paint for the final piece.
